For over 150 years, people have sought out the mountains for personal reasons—not to earn a living, but because they are fascinated by them. We explore this special relationship throughout five chapters. People, images, and objects tell stories of a thirst for adventure, physical sensation, athletic achievement, the experience of nature, and a sense of community—reflecting both continuities and shifts over time. And finally, we turn the question to you: Why do you go to the mountains?
The exhibition engages all the senses. An audio guide, induction loops, tactile models, and tactile orientation aids ensure it is accessible to as many people as possible and it is bilingual: German/English
